A Workshop on Painting Flowers
January 23rd & 30th 9 am - noon
In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn how to paint flowers from start to finish. Topics will include,
• The painting process
• Painting backgrounds that make your flowers stand out and alive
• Choosing colors
• How to paint the vase
• Painting the table, or not
• Adding magic to your flower paintings
• And so much more
The art of flower painting has been around for thousands of years. From the Ancient Egyptians, through the Renaissance and Impressionism, to the present, flower painting has captivated artists and buyers of art for centuries. Why? It’s because people love flowers. They love the colors, the many varieties, their decorative qualities, and the symbolic meaning that certain flowers hold. And unlike real flowers, flower paintings last forever for you and your clients to enjoy over and over.
Flower paintings also make great gifts.
This workshop is for beginner and intermediate students. Held from 9 AM to noon on two consecutive Thursdays, January 23rd and 30th, you’ll have an opportunity to paint two finished flower paintings or more.
Award-winning professional artist Gerard Bianco will be your guide on your floral art journey. Gerard has been painting and teaching for over forty years, helping students take their painting skills to levels they’ve never imagined.
Price $150. Limited to 10 participants working in oil, acrylic, or watercolor.
A suggested supplies list will be sent to all participants before the workshop begins.

If you are a painting beginner who wants to learn painting essentials, an intermediate painter who wants to take your painting to the next level, or an artist who has been itching to try your hand at a new medium, there's nothing better than individualized, private art coaching to help you achieve your artistic goals.
For painting beginners, I offer a program that gives you a solid foundation in the basics - things you'll never learn anywhere else. We'll cover drawing, color, values, and composition. We'll discuss brushes, paints, mediums, and painting surfaces. I'll examine your strengths and weaknesses, and you'll receive individualized assessment and exercises to give you clarity and direction to increase your painting understanding and technical skills.
For intermediate painters, we'll dive deep into color mixing, values, edges, and techniques to add magic to your paintings. We'll focus on your painting goals. I'll teach you how to see a painting, before you begin. You'll learn tips and tricks that will make your paintings sing.
For all levels, we'll meet in person once a week (or on Zoom if you are working remotely) - 4 times a month. Along with a critique of a painting you're working on, you'll receive a weekly assignment that we will review. Each session lasts between an hour and an hour and half. The cost is $300 per month. Some months have 5 weeks. If you want to meet for that 5th week, there is an additional cost of $75. Please click the link if you have questions about private art coaching, or if you want to sign up.
Gerard offers individual or group writing instructions, author talks, and 8-week series instructions. Please click the link below to contact us for details.
I'm often asked about the watercolors I use to create realistic skin tones. In this tutorial, you'll learn how to render life-like skin tones in watercolor. It's a fun, easy-to-follow tutorial where, together, we will create a chart of skin tone samples that you can refer to when creating your next painting.
Fun, easy, and a tutorial you can watch over and over..
You'll learn how to create life-like skin tones from colors you never imaged using! Many of which are straight out of the tube.
Choosing the right colors from the start will make or break you painting.
