“I don’t have talent. I can’t draw, I don’t think I can paint.”
Many people say this, and Gerard Bianco says, “Yes You Can!”
For the past forty years Gerard has been teaching beginners and intermediate students how to tell a story with paint. Join us for individualized painting instructions with a leader in the field.
Gerard's approach to teaching focuses on the joy of expressing emotions through paint. He views painting not as mere imitation, but as a way to communicate the excitement of a subject, allowing others to feel that same thrill.
Gerard guides you through a step-by-step process, demonstrating techniques, offering one-on-one support, and helping you learn at your own pace. You'll receive that special personal attention you won't find in a class setting. Whether you're tackling basic or more advanced concepts, Gerard will teach you how to apply paint, mix colors between darks and lights, and understand how to guide the viewer's eye through your composition.
While the process itself is grounded in technique, the real magic occurs in the moment when you finish your painting and successfully capture the story that’s meaningful to you.
Gerard’s students continue to tell him that they cannot believe or imagine that they were able to create such beautiful paintings after only a short time. You too can experience that joy and wonder as well.

For painting beginners, Gerard offers a program that gives you a solid foundation in the basics - things you'll never learn anywhere else. We'll cover drawing, color, values, and composition. We'll discuss brushes, paints, mediums, and painting surfaces. Gerard will examine your strengths and weaknesses, and you'll receive individualized assessment and exercises to give you clarity and direction and increase your painting understanding and technical skills.
For intermediate and above painters, we will begin by focusing on your painting goals. Gerard will then examine your strengths and weaknesses and create a course that will take your work to the next level. You'll dive deep into color mixing, values, edges, and techniques to add magic to your paintings. You'll learn how to see a painting, before you begin, and you'll be given a procedural system so that you'll never wonder what to do next. You'll learn tips and tricks that will make your paintings rise to a professional level.
For all levels, we'll meet remotely via, Zoom, once a week - 4 times a month. Along with a review of the painting(s) you're working on, you'll receive weekly assignments. Each session lasts between an hour and an hour and half. The cost is $400 per month. Some months have 5 weeks. If you want to meet for that 5th week, there is an additional cost of $85.
